Citation | Winham, S. J., et al. (2014). "Bipolar disorder with comorbid binge eating history: A genome-wide association study implicates APOB." J Affect Disord 165: 151-158. |
Disease Type | Bipolar Disorder |
Study Design | case-control |
Study Type | Genome-wide association study |
Sample Size | 1001 bipolar cases and 1034 controls |
SNP/Region/Marker Size | 729454 SNPs |
Predominant Ethnicity | Caucasian |
Population | European American |
Age Group | adults |
Sample Diagnosis | DSM-IV |
---|---|
Sample Status | Bipolar subjects were enrolled at multiple institutions over a period of 18 years. Subjects recruited at different times received different psychiatirc interviews based on the Diagnostic Interview for Genetic Studies 2, 3 or 4. All BD cases met the DSM-IV criteria for bipolar I disorder. |
Replication Size | 855 cases and 857 controls |
Technique | genotyped on the Affymetrix Genome-Wide Human SNP Array 6.0 |
Statistical Method | All analyses were performed in PLINK version 1.07. Reported p-values are not corrected for multiple testing; statistical significance was determined based on a Bonferroni-corrected significance threshold of p<6.85E-8. |
Result Summary | Top ranking SNPs in the discovery set included rs6006893 in PRR5, rs17045162 in ANK2, rs13233490 near PER4, rs4665788 and rs10198175 downstream of APOB, rs2367911 in CACNA2D1, and rs7249968 near ZNF536. Rs10198175 in APOB also demonstrated evidence of association in the replication sample and a meta-analysis of the two samples. |
