Of the 69 members in family 1, there were 11 living affected individuals, five of whom were diagnosed as bipolar (4 bipolar I and 1 bipolar II), and six had recurrent unipolar depression, each of whom fulfilled RDC criteria for endogenous depression. There were seven affected individuals of the 20 members in family 2, each with bipolar I disorder. |

Close linkage to DRDl was excluded at a theta (recombination fraction) of 0.00 with model I, (maximum penetrance = 0.60) and at theta < = 0.10 for model V (maximum penetrance = 1.0). Close linkage to DRD2 was excluded at a theta of 0.80 for model III (penetrance of 0.80) and at theta < = 0.05 for models IV and V (penetrance of 0.90 and 1.00, respectively). |
