Sample Status	The sample used for this study was composed of 251 patients with only a diagnosis of BD; the mean age of onset is 26.15 (SD=9.71) years.
Technique	genotyping (SNaPshot), SNP analysis on the ABI 3100 genetic analyzer, genotypes determined using the Genemapper software
Statistical Method	Hardy-Weinberg (HW) analysis was carried out using the Quick Chi program; Allelic and genotypic frequency distributions were compared using a chi-square test and the computer programs SigmaStat and SPSS; Haplotype and linkage disequilibrium (LD) analyses were carried out using both GENECOUNTING and its support programs.
Result Summary	Following correction for multiple testing, no significant genotypic, allelic or estimated haplotypic differences were found between responders and nonresponders or between BD patients and controls. PREP is an interesting candidate gene to investigate in genetic studies of BD, but their findings do not support the hypothesis that genetic variation in this gene plays a major role in the etiology of BD or Li response.
