Detail Info
| Samples |
analysis with 1576 cases and 2115 controls for schizophrenia and 834 cases and 1770 controls for bipolar disorder |
| Statistic Method |
The strength of the association between rs4532 and the two diseases was measured by odd ratios(ORs) with 95% confidence intervals(CIs).For bipolar disorder, examination of heterogeneity across studies was not significant; thus a fixed effects model was applied. |
| Basic Result |
Our results showed that the GG genotype of rs4532 locus was significantly associated with bipolar disorder compared with AA genotype. With respect to schizophrenia, no significant association was found by a random effect smodel. Sensitivity analysis was applied to assess the influence of each single study. The corresponding pooled ORs showed no significant changes when removing one study at a time from each meta-analysis, indicating that our results were stable and reliable. Examination of heterogeneity among schizophrenia group across studies was significant. Therefore, the subgroup analysis by region was performed. It was divided into Asian subgroup(including China and Japan) and non-Asian subgroup (including German, Polish and France). No significant association was found between rs4532 locus and schizophrenia in Asian and non- Asian subgroups. Examination of heterogeneity across studies was not significant in subgroup analysis, which indicated that the heterogeneity among schizophrenia group was generated by different regions. Additionally, our results did not show any evidence of publication bias. |
