Detail Info
| Sample Diagnosis |
DSM-III-R, RDC |
| Sample Status |
We have studied a total of 51 normal controls and 59 unrelated patients diagnosed as bipolar I (43 subjects) or bipolar II (16 subjects) according to DSM-111-R and RDC. 28 of those patients presented a familiar history of psychiatric illness, considering this like the presence of at least one affected first-degree relative. |
| Technique |
PCR and electrophoresis |
| Statistical Method |
chi-square tests |
| Result Summary |
Statistic studies using X2did not reveal any allele to be more frequent in the MD population. Similar negative results have been obtained when we compared allele frequencies between controls and the different affected subpopulations. Thus, the present study does not reveal an association between GAJ3RA3 gene and MD in this Spanish population. |
