The case samples were collected in Israel by the patients'physicians in specialized clinics. For controls we haveused the same 1312 healthy individuals analyzed by Shifman et al. (2008). All cases and controls belong to the Ashkenazi Jewish population in Israel. All samples are part of the Hebrew University Genetic Resource,www.hugr.org. |

| Result Summary |
The GG genotype frequency of rs7341475 in male SA and BD cases was 0.68 and 0.57, respectively; 0.73 and 0.62 for SA and BD females, respectively. The GG genotype frequency in the control samples was 0.62 and 0.61 for men and women, respectively. Similar to SZ, a significant effect was only seen in SA females (P=0.035). No association was found for BD (women or men). Statistical power of the current association is modest, thus an effect for BD cannot be ruled out. |
